Ayurvedic Remedies to Cure Acidity

Acidity is a health condition that leads an individual to feel stomachache due to constipation and indigestion of food. The food is not digested properly and finds ways to eliminate from the body either as a waste product or either through vomiting. When both of these processes are not performed properly it may cause stomachache and acidity. Acidity can be cured by following a few easy steps at home itself rather than spending money on purchasing allopathic medicines. Let us have a look at some of the healthy ingredients that can heal acidity:

 

  1. Fennel

Fennel seeds are one of the best ingredients that help one to deal with gastrointestinal problems. They help one to reduce bloating and other stomach problems. Hence people prefer to chew on fennel seeds after their meals. One facing acidity can also take fennel tea for instant and soothing relief. A simple mixture of fennel seeds with boiled water can heal the rising acids in the body and immediately lower the pain in the stomach. It has no side-effects and can be given to an individual of any age group.

 

  1. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is the best natural antacid for our bodies. It helps one to easily digest the meal and stay at a bay from digestive issues. To cure acidity one can simply prepare cinnamon tea by adding a few sticks in water and allow it to simmer for a couple of minutes. This tea can be consumed after meals or before bedtime. Cinnamon has laxative properties which are helpful to assimilate waste from our body. Hence it helps to cure acidity. It is that spice that settles the food particles in our body and breaks them into simpler particles to digest.

 

  1. Buttermilk

Buttermilk has lactic acid which is the best way to get rid of acidity. Hence it is advised to have a glass of buttermilk topped with chopped coriander leaves after every meal. It is considered as a saatvik drink by Ayurveda hence it is considered to be a compulsory part of saatvik meal. It is an ancient practice to consume buttermilk after a meal but today people have swapped it with soft drinks or soda. Therefore try buttermilk to suppress acidity for a natural remedy and better results.

 

  1. Jaggery

Though it might sound a bit weird and unheard, jaggery does works to cure acidity. The high in magnesium ingredient helps to make our stomachs alkaline which makes it much better for food to easily get digested. Therefore we always find our elders advising us to chew on a piece of jaggery to digest the mal properly with any hassle and avoid acidity. It also has cooling properties. Therefore we always find jaggery served before water traditionally in our native places or villages. One can also prepare a refreshing jaggery drink by mixing it in cold water to cure acidity or any acidic burps as well.

 

  1. Cloves

Cloves again are one of the best ingredients to cure acidity according to Ayurveda. They have a carminative property to help cure acidity. They are also used as a spice in the preparation of various Indian curries. Mixing equal parts of cardamom powder and crushed cloves can be the best natural remedy to cure acidity. It is also a helpful ingredient to cure the issue of bad breath.
