'CONSTIPATION' is one of the most common digestive problems. Constipation involves the individual experiencing abdominal pain, irregular bowel movements, and feeling suffocated most of the time. Pregnancy is a crucial moment for a woman. It is the time when a woman's body goes through millions of changes. Everything needs to be taken special care of. There is a change in the diet pattern of a pregnant woman, there is a change in the exercise routine, and there are many more other changes to be experienced.

With all the changes there are also changes experienced in the health issues of a pregnant woman. If a conceiving mother experiences even the slightest of the health issue then it should not be ignored. It should be immediately treated or consulted by a doctor. There are certain health problems which a pregnant woman faces such as feeling nauseous, constipation, mood swings, and swollen hand and feet.  Constipation is a usual problem which many of the women face. Hence it isn't a serious or unexpected health issue.

Pregnant women feel constipated due to the intake of iron supplements, pressure on the womb, hormonal imbalance, and many such reasons. The woman may suffer problems such as the passing of hard stools, abdominal pain, and many such issues. Hence these problems may give rise to mood swings as well. The remedies to be used for treating the constipation of other individuals differ from treating the constipation of a pregnant woman.

1. Eat more fibrous food

Fiber food is considered to be the best one in case of constipation. It helps one to regulate the bowel movements. It helps to detoxify the body and provide loads of antioxidants to the body. It is advised that a pregnant lady should consume at least 28 grams of fiber each day. This helps in smooth bowel movements and also the removal of toxic substances from the body. Hence it is necessary to consume fibrous food. Food items such as fresh fruits, vegetables, lentils, peas, cereals, whole grains, are recommended to consume to keep the palette clean and healthy.


 2. Drink plenty of Water

Water is an essential part of every living being's diet. Consumption of high water is essential for an individual to stay hydrated and at a bay from various health problems. a normal person is recommended to consume at least 8 to 10 glasses of water in a day. But a pregnant lady is advised to consume double the amount of water. This helps the conceiving mother to stay hydrated and it also helps in smooth passage of stools. It also helps in the removal of toxic materials from the body. Drinking a huge amount of water keeps the digestive tract clear and healthy. Hence consumption of loads and loads of water is one of the healthy remedies to keep away from constipation.


3Have your meals at least 2 hours before you doze off

It is always advised to all of us that we should have our meals done way before our bedtime. This helps for easy digestion and also allows the food to take its own time to get dissolved into the blood. It also helps to avoid constipation as well. Having meals way before bedtime is not just advisable for pregnant women but is recommended to all of us. Many people prefer to have their meals before sunset. This helps for easy and smooth digestion. It is also a healthy ritual for our bodies. It also helps to ease the bowel movement which is one of the major problems during constipation. It also helps to avoid gas and bloating which is also a common health issue observed during pregnancy.


4. Break meals into smaller portions

People trying to shed a few kilos or people who are health freak are always advised to break their meals into smaller portions. It helps to increase metabolism which helps to reduce weight. Hence it is advised to have 5 to 6 smaller portions of food in a day rather than 3 heavy meals a day. Pregnant ladies should consume smaller meal portions in a day. This helps for easy digestion and also helps the pregnant woman to avoid constipation. Heavier meals take time to digest and at times when the previous meals are in the process of digestion the time of the next meal arrives. This leads to constipation. Therefore lighter meals are not just the best way to keep healthy it is also a natural remedy to avoid constipation.


5. Maintain a healthy and easy exercise routine

Pregnant females are advised to rest as much as they can for a baby's health but they are also advised to do the light form of exercises. Though rest is important for conceiving mothers it is also important to practice a few particular forms of exercises as well. Expecting a female's body gain weight by the passing time as it is a natural process. But gaining too much weight can prove harmful for the health of the mother and the baby as well.

Hence exercises such as light walks, climbing little stairs, practicing yoga and breathing exercises are helpful to maintain a normal weight and health of the mother. Regular exercise is also useful to avoid constipation. It helps to keep the digestive track clean which helps in regular bowel movements. Therefore exercising should be an essential part of an expectant mother.


6.The citrusy remedy

Lemon consists of natural citrus acid which is healthy for our body. Having a cup of warm water with a few lemon drops helps one to clear the bowel movements. Citrus is helpful to clear the harmful acid in our food. Hence pregnant ladies should include lemon in their diet. The citrus acid of lemon helps to break the harmful acid content of the food. Lemon also helps to ease the bowel movements and therefore is considered to be a helpful natural remedy to cure constipation.
