Diabetes is one of the common health problems. One of the worst facts about this health problem is it can be experienced in people of any age group. One should not ignore this health ailment as it works like a slow poison for our body. It slowly and gradually weakens the immune system and various other parts of the body. Hence one should religiously follow the medication and keep the diabetes level under control. It can be easily controlled and lowered with the help of certain changes in the lifestyle and especially a huge change in the food habits of the individual. Let us have a peep in beneficial properties of some of the food items that can be consumed to lower the elevated blood sugar levels.

  1. Green Leafy Vegetables

Greens are always healthy for our bodies. May it be losing weight, strengthening the immune system, or lowering blood sugar levels, green leafy vegetables are always healthy for the body. Greens are full of vitamin C hence they aid to lower the blood sugar levels. Green leafy vegetables are full of antioxidants too which help to gush out the toxic material from the body which is again essential for the smooth functioning of the body.

  1. Cinnamon

This delicious spice is a great food flavoring agent along with multiple health benefits. Cinnamon is a great source of antioxidants. It helps to strengthen the immune system of the body. It helps to lower the blood sugar levels naturally without any side-effects. Cinnamon is also healthy to lower triglyceride levels. Hence people on a weight loss spree should consume cinnamon. To lower the blood sugar levels one can add cinnamon powder in a glass of hot water to start the day or one can also add it in a glass of plain water with few drops of lemon.

Also known as Curcumin, Turmeric is one of the best spices to improve our health in various ways. Turmeric is an inflammatory spice along with lowering the blood sugar levels. It also helps to heal the body externally as well as internally. Turmeric also helps to strengthen the immune system of the body along with being healthy for our kidneys and liver. The spice is also healthy to detox our body naturally without any side-effects.

Yogurt is high in probiotics and healthy in good bacteria for the body. It also helps to have control over the blood sugar levels.  The probiotics of yogurt help to lose those extra kilos and aid in natural weight loss. It is a healthy ingredient to cleanse our digestive system and aid its smooth functioning. Hence people of all age groups though you might be affected by diabetes or not one should have yogurt at least once a day.

Nuts are full of fiber and are easy to digest for the body. Hence, they also aid to lower diabetes. Studies show that walnuts are one of the best nuts to lower diabetes levels. They are full of anti-inflammatory properties along with lowering the obesity level that is another side-effect of diabetes. Hence people with diabetes should daily try to consume nuts.
