How to get rid of Pimples

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles get clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin. If left untreated, this chronic inflammatory skin condition causes pimples and spots.

Here are some home remedies to get rid of acne and remove pimples naturally.

  1. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has the ability to fight bacteria and reduce skin inflammation. Constant use of tea tree oil helps in reducing pimples.

Tea tree oil should be combined with water for application in order to avoid redness and irritation of the skin.

Use of tea tree oil - Mix one part tea tree oil with nine parts water. Apply this mixture on pimples with a cotton swab. Apply moisturizer, if required. This process can be repeated one to two times every day, as needed.

  1. Essential Oils

Other essential oils like cinnamon, rose, lavender and clove help fight pimples due to antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Use of these essential oils reduces acne-causing bacteria.

Use of essential oils - Mix one part essential oil with nine parts water. Apply this mixture on pimples with a cotton swab. Apply moisturizer, if required. This process can be repeated one to two times every day, as needed.

  1. Green Tea

Green is a very simple and cost-effective way to fight pimples. The antioxidants present in green tea help reduce inflammation and sebum production.

Use of green tea - Boil green tea in water for 3–4 minutes. Let the tea cool down. Apply this tea on your face with a cotton ball. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse face with water.

Repeat this process one to two times per day.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

The organic acids in apple cider vinegar helps reduce acne, suppress inflammation and prevents scarring.

Apple cider vinegar should be used in small amount and diluted with water as it may cause skin burns and irritation.

Use of apple cider vinegar - Mix one part apple cider vinegar and three parts water. More water can be used for sensitive skin. Apply this mixture gently to the skin using a cotton ball. Let it sit for 5–20 seconds. Wash with water and pat dry. This process can be repeated 1–2 times per day, as needed.

  1. Honey and Cinnamon Mask

Honey and cinnamon are excellent sources of antioxidants and are filled with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Due to these properties, honey and cinnamon is beneficial for acne prone skin.

Preparation of honey and cinnamon mask - Make a paste by combining two tablespoons honey and one teaspoon cinnamon. Apply this paste to your face and leave it on for 10–15 minutes. Wash the mask off completely and pat dry.

  1. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera gel is used extensively to treat acne, rashes, burns and skin inflammation. Aloe vera gel from the market can also be used instead of fresh gel from the plant, but make sure it is pure aloe without any added ingredients.

Use of aloe vera - Scrape out the gel from the aloe vera plant using a spoon. Apply this gel as a moisturizer to clean skin. This process can be repeated 1–2 times per day, or as required.

  1. Exfoliate

Exfoliation removes dead cells from skin that clog up pores and enables deeper penetration of acne treatments. It also improves skin appearance by reducing scars.

Preparation of a simple scrub at home - Combine equal parts sugar and coconut oil. Scrub skin with this mixture for few minutes and rinse well.


Acne can be treated using various other simple ways like -

  • Taking zinc and fish oil supplement.
  • Use of witch hazel.
  • Practicing low glycemic diet.
  • Reduce the consumption of dairy.
  • Reduce stress and exercise daily.
