The word churan means mixture and Avipattikar Churan is made by mixing many ayurvedic herbs in the right quantities. The main ingredients of this churan are dried ginger (zingiberofficinale), black pepper (piper nigrum), long pepper (piper longum), haritaki (chebulicmyrobalan- Terminaliachebula), bibhitaki (bahera or belericmyrobalan- Terminaliabellirica), amla (amlaki or Indian gooseberry- Emblicaofficinalis), mustaka (nut grass- cyperusrotundus), vaividang (false black pepper- embeliaribes), green cardamom (elettariacardamomum), tejpatta (Indian bay leaf- CinnamomumTamala), laung (clove- syzygiumaromaticum), nishoth (turpeth- operculinaterpethum), misri (candy sugar- crystallised sugar lumps).

Symptoms/When to use/indications: Avipattikar Churan is an ayurvedic proprietary medicine which is used for hyper-acidity, gastritis, burning ache due to excess acid, loss of appetite and indigestion linked with gastritis. It is also known to be effective in curing piles, urinary problems and kidney stones. AvipattikarChuran is an antacid, appetizer, antioxidant, digestive stimulant, carminative (a drug causing expulsion of gas from the stomach or bowel), antilithiatic, mild diuretic (increasing the volume of the urine excreted, as by a medicinal substance), and anti- inflammatory medicine.
Usage/Benefits: Avipattikar Churan affects the organs of the digestive system excretory system and urinary system. It neutralises the acid secretion in the stomach. Avipattikar Churan also effective in acid dyspepsia (indigestion), characterised by loss of appetite, stomach discomfort, nausea, sour and burning vomit, heartburn (retrosternal burning) and burning sensation in the throat.
Dosage: Twice a day one tsp with water or coconut water. There are other mixtures which can be created using Avipattikar Churan and other medicinal herbs which are very effective in curing other ailments too.
Side effects: Excess dosage can cause stomach pain, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea (loose stools). Avipattikar Churan should not be used during pregnancy. If a patient is suffering from loose motions, then Avipattikar Churan should not be prescribed.
